recognize and honar the coniri&Wws of the country's agricultum ists and to
strengthen Me bald between urban and rw al citizens; and,
WHEREAS, in Collier County, the high point of Farm -City Week is the amwl Faren City BBQ,
presented by tie 6rieater Nop/es Chamber of Commence and loco/ business and
agriculftml leaders; and,
WHEREAS, proceeds from the Form City BBQ benefit loco/ yaath leadership development
programs through the Collier County 4H Association, Youth Leadership Collier, Collier
County Jun /or Deputies Lwow, and Collier County Key Clubs; and,
WHEREAS, agricu /twee is an impartont element in Collier County's economic machine, with total
economic activity of over $3010 million onrwlly; and,
WHEREAS, twenty -two pervent of Collier Cownty is utilized for ogryculftm, providing vital
ecological benefits, including habitat for wildlife, and recharge area for our aquifer,
and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Collier County Commissioners SMAPOrts /oca/ ogricU /tte MroWh
programs including cooperation with Me University of Florida/ IFAS Extension
Service, and,
WHEREAS, 2013 marks Me 50x' year of the Notional Form -City Partrnu sh /p; and,
WHEREAS, we www mge a// citizens to pause to recoggnize the contributions of our loco/
farmers and ranchers to our economy, our food supply, and our society.
