AHEREAS, the National Coalition for the Homeless and Notional Student Campaign Against
Hunger and Namelessness have sponsored Hunger and Homelessness Awareness
Week for several years, and,
WHEREAS, Me propose of the week is to educate the public about the many reasons
indivrdua /s are hungry and homeless, including tie shortoo of affordab /e housing
in Collier County for very low intone residents and encourage support for
homelessness assistance providers; and,
WHEREAS, Me Hunger d Homeless Coalition of Collier County and Faith Communities to End
Home %amass recognize that hunger and homelessness continues to be a serious
problem for many indivrdua /s and families in Collier County where adequate housing
is limited; and,
WHEREAS, homelessness is both o statistical and personal reality for many families, veterans
and a growing number of schoolchildren in Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, in 2013, Collier County reported 396 homeless adults and 1, 054 public school
children as frameless, an increase in both ,soups from 2012; and,
WHEREAS, tine Hunger d Homeless Coalition of Collier County and Faith Communities to End
Homelessness have many activities plamed throughout the week to increase
awareness and facilitate solutions to prevent and end homelessness and hunger in
Co //ter County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it prw1aimed by Me Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that November 10 -17, 2013 be designated as
HUNGER d HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 12M Day of November, 2013.
