EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Appointment of member to the Historical/Archaeological Preservation Board.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint one member to the Historical/Archaeological Preservation Board
for a term to expire on October 1, 2016 and re-advertise the at-large position.
CONSIDERATIONS: On May 26, 2009, the Board of County Commissioners adopted
Ordinance No. 2009-33, which relocated and readopted the Historic/Archaeological Preservation
Board Ordinance in its entirety as a stand-alone ordinance in the Collier County Code of Laws
and Ordinances. This seven member board is vested with the power, authority, and jurisdiction
to designate, regulate, and administer historical and archaeological resources in Collier County,
under the direct jurisdiction and control of the Board of County Commissioners. Membership is
composed of members from the following categories: a. history; b. archaeology; c. Real Estate,
land development, or finance; d. architecture; e. law or urban planning; and, f. Two positions will
be filled by citizens at large. Terms are three years. A list of the current membership is included
in the backup.
The vacancies were advertised and applications were received from the following interested

In response to the Historical and Archaeological Preservation Board's two (2) advertised vacancies, I
have received resumes from two applicants. Please note that Craig Woodward is requesting to be re-
appointed to the Preservation Board. During the September 18, 2013 HAPB meeting, the Preservation
Board voted to forward a recommendation to the BCC to reappoint Mr. Woodward to another term.
The Board also voted to re-advertise for the at-large category noted below, in light of additional public
interest expressed at the meeting.
