WHEREAS, The Council of Hispanic Business Professionals (CHBP), also referred to as "The
Hispanic Council, " was incorporated in October 2008 as a non-profit organization
serving the Collier County community; and,
WHEREAS, CHBP's mission is to promote Hispanic Business and Professionals and their ongoing
efforts to building a prosperous community for everyone in Collier County by
working in the areas of business, entrepreneurship, education and culture; and,
WHEREAS, 2013 marks five hundred years of discovery by Juan Ponce de Ledn and Hispanics
sett ling throughout Florida, bringing a new world of culture, today's cherished
beliefs and progress to our beloved Sunshine State; and,
WHEREAS, by Federal law, each year between September 15th and October 15'x' is celebrated
as Hispanic Heritage Month; and,
WHEREAS, for the five last years, CHBP has raised funds for various local charities providing
programs for individuals with autism, encouraging literacy and promoting
opportunities for underprivileged children, youth and women in our community; and,
wHEREAS, to celebrate its 5th anniversary, CHBP is ho/ding its annual gala to benefit the
Safe d Healthy Children's Coalition of Collier County, a non-profit organization
whose mission is the implementation of programs against childhood obesity, the
prevention of childhood drowning and the reduction of sleeping-related deaths
among children in Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that the Council of Hispanic Business Professionals be recognized for its
five years of continuous community service, in parallel with the annual U.5.
Hispanic Heritage Month, as well as the celebration of 500 years of Florida's
Hispanic History in 2013.
