EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize Budget Amendments for client’s co-payments in the amount of
$10,505 for the Community Care for the Elderly (CCE) and Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative (ADI)
Grants for Collier County Services for Seniors (CCSS) Program from the Area Agency on Aging of
Southwest Florida, Inc. (AAA).
OBJECTIVE: To provide uninterrupted support services to CCSSs’ frail, elderly clients through the
CCE and ADI Grant Programs and allow the County's financial system to reflect the gr antor's established
co-pay goals.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Community and Human Services (CHS) Division’s Services for Seniors
Program has been providing support to qualified seniors for over thirty (30) years through the CCE and
ADI Grant Programs. These grants are funded by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA)
through AAA. These grant fund services enable clients to remain in their homes and live with
independence and dignity.
On September 26, 2017, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approved the 2017-18 grant
contracts with AAA (Agenda Item 16.D.10) which included estimated co-payment goals. Current funding
awards for these programs end June 30, 2018. CCSS is responsible for the collection of client co -
payments for the CCE and ADI Grants, with a specified collection goal established by CHS and approved
by AAA. The CCE co-payments are used to offset the local match requirements. The final co-payment
goals approved by AAA for the CCE and ADI programs are $28,985 and $17,353 respectively for the
2017-18 program year. This proposed action will bring the grant program budgets current with the AAA
approved co-payment goals.

FISCAL IMPACT: Budget amendments in the amount of $10,505 are required to recognize co-
payments revenue goals for the CCE and ADI Grants funded by the DOEA. Funding will reside in
Human Services Grant Fund (707), Projects 33519 (CCE Co-Pays) and 33520 (ADI Co-Pays). This
action brings the County's financial system current to the official co-payment goals established by the
grantor agency AAA for the 2017-18 program.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT: There is no Growth Management impact associated with this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: No legal issues are raised by this Item which requires a majority vote for
Board approval. -JAB
RECOMMENDATIONS: To authorize necessary Budget Amendments to ensure uninterrupted services
to elderly clients and authorize the eligible expenditure.
