EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept a donation from the Marco Island Marriott Resort of gym equipment
for use by the Isles of Capri Fire Rescue District.
OBJECTIVE: To receive approval from the Board of County Commissioners to accept a
donation of gym equipment to the Isles of Capri Fire Rescue District.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Marriott recently renovated the clubhouse at its Hammock Bay Golf
and Country Club. These renovations included the elimination of a large fitness room. When
the Marriott staff learned of plans to renovate the fitness area at the Isles of Capri firehouse, it
offered the gym equipment to the Isles of Capri Fire Rescue District as a way to support the
community's first responders. The estimated value of the used equipment and flooring is
$12,900. An inventory of the donated items is attached to this agenda item. All assets have been
accounted for according to County CMA 5809.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, and is
consistent with Ord. 04-55, which provides that acceptance of donated property shall be at the
sole discretion of the Board of County Commissioners. Accordingly, this item is approved as to
form and legality, requiring majority support for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: To accept the donation of gym equipment to the Isles of Capri Fire
Rescue District from the Marco Island Marriott Resort.
