EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a budget amendment to recognize carry forward for the Vanderbilt
Drive Improvement project within the Transportation Supported Gas Tax Fund 313 project 60178
in the amount of$120,519.20.
OBJECTIVE: To have the Board authorize a budget amendment to recognize carry forward for
the Vanderbilt Drive Improvements within the Transportation Supported Gas Tax Fund (313) in
the amount of$120,519.20 into project 60178.
CONSIDERATIONS: On 10/28/08 10B, the BCC approved the settlement agreement from
the Cocohatchee Bay Lodge/Abbott Settlement Agreement in the amount of $3,000,000.00
which was budgeted for use in Fiscal Year 2009 in Gas Tax Project 60178. This agreement
stipulated that this money must be used towards improvements within the Vanderbilt Drive
corridor and therefore shall be deposited into project 60178 for use on future projects as directed
by the Board of County Commissioners. This Executive Summary also approved for Collier
County to enter into a Local Funding Agreement (LFA) with Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) for construction of a new bridge over the Cocohatchee River on County
Rd.901 (Vanderbilt Dr.) and to deposit $1,761,811.00 into an interest bearing account in the
name of Florida Dept. of Transportation. Additionally, improvements that were required for the
Coconilla PUD were funded out of project 60178 until they could be reimbursed. Upon the
completion of the bridge project and the Coconilla improvements, funds were returned
appropriately back to the county. In order for these funds to be used exclusively for corridor
improvements in project 60178, the funds must be recognized and a budget amendment is
required. This money consists of Principal and Interest in the amount of$44,168.08 earned from
the LFA agreement with FDOT and $76,351.12 from the Coconilla RPUD.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds in the amount of$76,351.12 and 44,168.08 were received in fiscal
years 2009 and 2012, respectively, but were not previously recognized. A budget amendment is
required to recognize the appropriate carry forward amount in Transportation gas tax Fund 313,
project 60178.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is
approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMMIENDATIOIN: Tnat the board of County Commissioners authorize the necessary
budget amendment.
