EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to request that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) erect
destination guide signs on Interstate 75 (1-75) at Exit 101 (Collier Boulevard) and at Exit
105 (Golden Gate Parkway) designating the community of East Naples.
OBJECTIVE: To have FDOT erect destination guide signs to East Naples at both Exit 101 and
Exit 105 on I-75 so as to provide the public enhanced awareness of the location and designation
of the East Naples community.
CONSIDERATIONS: At the request of Chairwoman Hiller, on July 19, 2013, the county
received notification from the FDOT that the inclusion of East Naples on the Florida Official
Transportation Map for 2014 had been approved.
Now that the FDOT has accepted inclusion of East Naples on the Official Transportation Map
for 2014, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) has the opportunity to request that
destination guide signs indicating East Naples be added to the signs at Exit 101 and Exit 105 on
1-75. The communities of Naples Park and Golden Gate both have destination guide signs on 1-
75 and these signs can be invaluable to our winter residents,tourists and businesses.
Attached is a Resolution for the Board requesting that the FDOT include destination guide signs
at both Exits 101 and 105 on I-75 designating the community of East Naples.
FISCAL IMPACT: This item will result in no fiscal impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires
majority vote for Board approval.—SRT
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This action will result in no growth management
impact.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board approve and authorize its Chairwoman to send the
attached correspondence requesting the FDOT to erect destination guide signs on I-75 at both
Exits 101 and 105 designating the community of East Naples, along with the attached proposed
Resolution.

RE: Request for the addition of Destination Guide Signs on I-75 at Exits 101 (Collier
Boulevard) and 105 (Golden Gate Parkway) for East Naples, Florida
Dear Mr. Nandam:
On Friday, July 19, 2013, Jared Causseaux, FDOT Tallahassee, sent an email to County staff
approving the County's request to add East Naples to the Florida Official Transportation Map for
2014.
The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) now respectfully requests that destination guide
signs for East Naples be considered for placement on I-75 at Exits 101 and 105, respectively.
These guide signs would be most helpful to our winter visitors that enjoy our area. We note that
other communities within the Naples area, such as Naples Park and Golden Gate, all have
destination guide signs on I-75.
Attached is a resolution passed by the BCC indicating their desire to have designation signs
indicating East Naples at both Exit 101 and Exit 102 on 1-75.
