EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve the necessary budget amendment to recognize revenue received from
the State Aid to Libraries Grant in the amount of $208,420.
OBJECTIVE: Receive approval to budget FY2013 State Aid to Libraries grant funding in the amount of
$208,420.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Board of County Commissioners approved the application for State Aid to
Libraries grant program at their regular meeting on September 11, 2012. (Item #16.D.2.) The Florida
Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services awarded Collier County Public
Library an amount of $208,420.
These grant funds can be used for any library need except for building construction. Funds allocated to
the Collier County Library will be used to purchase library materials, services, equipment, and to hire 2
FTE job bank employees in FY 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment is required to recognize grant revenue in the amount of
$208,420 Public Services Grant Fund (709), Project 33254. This grant does not require a matching
amount.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's Office and does
not present any legal issues. This item requires majority vote for approval. — CMG
RECOMMENDATION: The Board of County Commissioners authorize and approve the necessary
budget amendment to recognize additional revenue received from the State Aid to Libraries Grant in the
amount of $208,420 into Public Services Grant Fund (709), Project 33254 FY 12/13 State Aid to
Libraries.

Division of Library and Information Services staff have reviewed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2012 -2013
State Aid to Libraries grant application submitted by your library. I am pleased to inform you that your
library has met all of the requirements of Chapter 1B- 2.011, Florida Administrative Code.
Grant funds will be paid in two payments. The first payment, requested upon execution of the grant
agreement, will be for three- fourths of the grant amount. The second payment will be for one - fourth of
the grant amount.
A copy of the executed grant agreement and a Notification of Grant Award form are enclosed for your
files. The first grant payment has been requested. The enclosed list shows the grants that libraries will
receive during FY 2012 -2013.
