EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Glenn Rager, Instrumentation & Electrical Technician, Wastewater
Department/Power Systems, as the Employee of the Month for April 2013.
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the Employee of the Month program is to recognize the efforts
and accomplishments of employees who have made significant contributions to the organization
and to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Glenn Rager, Instrumentation & Electrical Technician has been
nominated as the "Employee of the Month" for April 2013. Glenn, an employee of the County
since 2010, works for the Wastewater Department in the Public Utilities Division.
As an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician, Glenn is primarily responsible for performing
specialized electrical work associated with the installation, programming, and repair of equipment
and machinery at wastewater treatment plants, wastewater collection facilities, off -site operations,
and related facilities. Working with the Data Flow System, Glenn built and programmed a
standalone temporary fiber test equipment piece, allowing changes and upgrades to be tested
without affecting the permanent system, saving the county many thousands of dollars. He works
closely with Project Managers and Engineers to provide accurate and timely information.
Additionally Glenn has worked with the IT department, Data Flow Systems Inc. and the Project
Engineer to coordinate the recent upgrades to the rain gauges, now visible on the Data Flow
System. He has created Data Flow System screens showing the monitored pH levels at the lift
stations coming out of the water plants and pH levels at the master stations going into the
wastewater plants, drawing the attention and recognition of Data Flow Systems Inc. as being
superior among screens created by other wastewater facilities across the country using the
system. Glenn never hesitates to respond to a repair request or help out with an after hour
shutdown. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of instrumentation and his programming abilities
with all members of the Power Systems team. Glenn is energetic, sincere and enthusiastic; his
positive attitude and easy going demeanor paired with his knowledge and skill makes him a
valued member of his team, and truly deserving of the Employee of the Month award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Employee of the Month" receives a $150.00 cash award.
Funds are available in the employee's Budget Cost Center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the recognition of
Glenn Rager as "Employee of the Month" for April 2013.
