WHEREAS, in 20101 Collier County become an 'entitlement" recipient of Federal Funds from
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban beve /opvment (HUD) under the
Community Development Black 6rant (C066) Program; and,
WHEREAS; Collier County certified that it will affil mativiely further fair housing opportunities
and work to identify and removre impediments to fair housing choices; and,
WHEREAS, Co / /ier CountY'r Consolidated Five Year Plan FY 2011 -2016 outlines fair housing
initiatives that will be undertaken which include education and outreach campa*w
to further fair housing choices for Collier County residents; and,
WHEREAS, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the fair housing act of 1968, as
amended, prohibit the discrimimMon in the sale, rental and firming of housing
based on race, religion, sex, national origin, handicap or familial status, and,
WHEREAS, the Secretary of HUD has proclaimed April 2013 as 7*1zonal Fair Housing Month"
and asked a// CD86 Entitlement Communities to join him in celebrating the
freedom of housing choices and fair housing opportunities; and,
AHEREAS, fine Board of County Commissioners of Collier County fee/ that every American has
the right to live where they choose with dignity and without the fear of
discrimination and actively support its Fair Housing education and outreach
initiatives.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that April 2013 be designated as
NATIONAL FAIR HOUSING MONTH
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 26,' Day of March 2013.
