EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Appointment of a member to the Animal Services Advisory Board.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint one member to serve the remainder of the Humane Society Naples
term that expires on April 13, 2016.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Animal Services Advisory Board is a seven member board that
was created on January 27, 2004 by Ordinance No. 2004-06 to make recommendations to the
Board of County Commissioners on programs, services, classes and special events that will
further assist Collier County Domestic Animal Services in providing the best possible service to
the community. They will also analyze and review construction and improvements to Domestic
animal Services facilities and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners
regarding such facilities. After initial appointments, terms will be four years. Membership shall
represent the following categories:
1 - Humane Society Naples
1 -Law Enforcement
1 -Veterinarian or Vet Tech
1 -Animal Activist Group
1 —Citizen in the Pet Retail, Boarding or Grooming Industry
2 - At Large
A list of the current membership is included in the backup. W. Thomas Kepp, Jr. is no longer on
the board for the Humane Society Naples. The Humane Society Naples has recommended
Michael Simonik, Executive Director,to represent the organization.

The Humane Society Board would like a current Board member to be seated at the DAS Advisory Board.
We are very grateful for Tom Kepp's service to the Humane Society and to the DAS Adisory Board for the
many years of his time to us and the County. We will retain Tom's knowledge and expertise in an advisory I;
capacity to the Board as we move forward with his replacement. In the meantime, I will be filling the seat
during this transition and until such time as a current Board member is chosen to represent the Humane
Society. Please let me know If there is anything I need to do to allow this to happen. Also,Tom tells me
there is a subcomittee meeting tonight that I will attend. See you later.
And thanks again for bringing Melissa over for the tour. It was great to get to know her and we look
forward to our continued partnership.
