EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to modify the estimated annual expenditure under Bid No. 12-5902, "Sewage
Hauling,"with Dixie Drainfields,Inc.,and Southern Sanitation,Inc. by$90,000.
OBJECTIVE: To ensure the sustained compliant operation of Collier County's wastewater collections
system and the Facilities Management Department's wastewater pump stations by providing sewage
hauling services for emergency and planned shutdown events.
CONSIDERATIONS: On July 24, 2012, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approved item
16C5,the award of Invitation to Bid 12-5902, "Sewage Hauling,"to Dixie Drainfields, Inc., and Southern
Sanitation, Inc., in the estimated combined annual amount of$75,000. This amount is not sufficient to
cover the anticipated annual demands of the Wastewater and Facilities Operating Departments. The
annual costs-to-date for the first quarter of fiscal year 2013 is an estimated $35,000. Staff requests the
annual expenditure under the Sewage Hauling contract be increased an additional $90,000 per fiscal year;
for a revised estimated total expenditure under the contract of$165,000 per year.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding is available in and is consistent with the Public Utilities Division's FY13
operating budgets approved by the Board on September 24, 2012. The sources of funding are Water-
Sewer Operating Fund(408) in the estimated annual amount of$150,000; and Facilities Management,
General Fund(001), in the estimated annual amount of$15,000.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney's
Office, is legally sufficient for Board action and only requires a majority vote for approval—SRT.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, Ex-officio, the Governing Board of
the Collier County Water-Sewer District, increase the estimated annual combined expenditure under Bid
No. 12-5902 "Sewage Hauling"with Dixie Drainfields, Inc., and Southern Sanitation, Inc.,to $165.000.
