EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve the waiving of the Right-Of-Way Permit fee for two events held by the
Immokalee Chamber of Commerce annually and for as long as these events are held. The two
events are the "Community Friendship Day Block Party" and the "Christmas Around The World
Parade and Gala".
OBJECTIVE: To obtain the Board of County Commissioner (BCC) approval to waive Right-
Of-Way Permit (ROW) fees for two events held by the Immokalee Chamber of Commerce
annually and for as long as these events are held.
CONSIDERATION: The Immokalee Chamber Of Commerce holds two events annually
promoting commerce and a "working together" attitude between local business and the general
public. Those two events are the "Community Friendship Day Block Party" and the "Christmas
Around The World Parade and Gala". The Immokalee Chamber of Commerce has requested
that we waive the ROW Permit fee of$200 per event.
Due to the liability issues a ROW Permit must be issued for each event as per Ordinance 2009-
19. Staff recommends waiving the ROW Permit Fee for these two annual events for as long as
they are held to promote commerce and harmony with the general public. Permits are required
to have record of Maintenance of Traffic Plans, Liability responsibilities, and cleanup of the
roads after an event. The Immokalee Chamber of Commerce will comply with all requirements
of the permit with the exception of the$200 Fee.
FISCAL IMPACT: At this time the fiscal impact associated with this Executive Summary is
$400 annually.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney's office,
requires majority vote, and is legally sufficient for Board Action. -CMG
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves waiving the
Right-Of-Way Permit fees for these two annual events ("Community Friendship Day Block
Party"and the"Christmas Around The World Parade and Gala")for as long as they are held.
