Directing further that the job description of this new position be developed together with input from each current sitting Commissioner and the County Manager to integrate effectively with the reorganization of the BCC office, and to bring back to the Board for approval. OBJECTIVE: To provide a staffing option for Commissioners to hire an assistant with expanded education, professional skills, professional certifications, or other valuable experience, to compliment each individual Commissioner, and to best serve District constituents. CONSIDERATIONS: The to be created Executive Assistant position is to be a hiring option in lieu of, not in addition to, any staff currently serving in the existing position of Executive Aide (pay grade 18). The addition of a pay grade 19 position option will enable the attraction and addition of staff with Bachelor's degrees, professional certifications, and experience to assist Commissioners in research, deliberation, and service of the specialized needs in their respective Districts. It will also encourage continued education and professional development in current staff. FISCAL IMPACT: There is considerable overlap in the wage and benefit package of pay grades 18 and 19. Depending on the final staffing reorganization in the BCC Office, fiscal impact should be minimal. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None RECOMMENDATION: That the County Manager oversees the implementation the proposed position and bring the matter back for board approval.
