PROCLAMA TION
,tiHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009 -56, established the Waste Reduction
Awards Program (the WRAP award); and
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and mu /ti- family residences for enhanced
and innovative recycling programs; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Positano Place at Nap /es for
contributing to the greater good of Collier County by advocating recycling by its staff, tenants
and owners, thereby helping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and
WHEREAS, the Positano Place at Nap /es' recycling program includes
• Enhancing the recycling program in 2010 by rep /acing its twelve 60 gallon recycling carts for six
4 -cubic yard single stream recycling containers to collect comingled materials such as cardboard,
paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic.
• Utilizing single stream recycling containers that reduced its trash compactor pulls by one each
month resulting in a cost savings of $900 per month, which recovered the construction cost of
the new recycling pad area in less than a year's time.
• Providing clear and prominent signage, and educating the residents through newsletters and
mailings on what to recycle - and what not to recycle.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a trophy, and space on the countys
website showcasing eco- friendly business practices and recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Department congratu /at s Mr. Jock Hedenstrom,
LCAM, CMCA, Community Association Manager, the staff, and all of the residents and owners of
Positano Place at Naples for their outstanding efforts to promote waste reduction and recycling,
and setting a positive example for other multi - family communities. Their initiatives will have a
significant effect on sustaining the usable life of the Collier County Landfill and protecting the
environment.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we
