PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, in 2014, Legal Aid Service of Collier County celebrates its 1011 anniversary of
providing free, civil legal services to the most vulnerable and economically needy
residents of Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, Legal Aid Service of Collier County is a private, non-profit law firm, providing
free legal services to Collier County residents who face matters of life-changing
significance, such as survivors of domestic violence; children who have been
abused, neglected, and abandoned; families facing foreclosure and eviction; the
elderly, disabled, and veterans seeking benefits; and children with learning
disabilities in need of educational support and services; and,
WHEREAS, Legal Aid Service of Collier County served a record 2,700 clients in 2013, and has
provided a critical safety net for the community by serving thousands of residents
in Collier County who are economically needy since 2004; and,
WHEREAS, Legal Aid Service of Collier County endeavors to protect the safety, health, and
basic economic security of the people and families it assists through legal
services; and,
WHEREAS, by providing these services for free to those who otherwise could not afford an
attorney, Legal Aid Service of Collier County ensures access to justice through
the local court system for all residents of Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that a grateful Board recognizes and commends Legal Aid Service of
Collier County for its dedication to serving the most vulnerable members of the
community and making Collier County a safer, more equitable place to live, work
and play.
