EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint three members to the Collier County Public Safety Authority.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint three members to the Collier County Public Safety Authority to four year terms
expiring on December 31, 2018.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County Public Safety Authority was created by Ordinance No. 2012-23
on June 26, 2012 as a seventeen (17) member Authority to address closer inter-agency collaboration and
integration of the pre-hospital emergency medical services delivery system. Ordinance No. 2014-37 reduced
the membership of the Authority to a five member citizens committee, with members having no affiliation
with any hospital, fire district, EMS, municipality or the Collier County Sheriffs Office. The purpose of the
Authority is to assist the Board of County Commissioners, municipalities, fire departments, law enforcement
agencies including the Collier County Sheriff's Office, and hospitals, with issues affecting pre-hospital
emergency medical services within all of Collier County. Terms are four years.
Ordinance No. 2014-37 was adopted on October 14, 2014, reorganizing the committee and resulting in five
vacant seats for citizen representatives. The vacancies were advertised and applications were received from

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that all three of the above applicants be appointed to
four year terms to expire on December 31, 2018.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Staff Recommendation, and
directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.
