EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize carry forward from accrued interest in the amount of $105,519.28
and unused grant funds in the amount of $2.12 from State Aid to Library Grants revenue and
appropriate those funds for expenditures on library materials, services, and equipment.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize accrued interest and unused funds to appropriate for expenditures on library
materials, services, and equipment for the use of Collier County residents.
CONSIDERATIONS: Each year the Collier County Public Library is awarded funds through the State
Aid to Library Grants. The most recent grant was approved by the Board on March 25, 2014 — Agenda
item 16136. These grants require the CCPL to provide the public with free library services, including
loaning library materials and providing reference and information services. Funds are advanced and
therefore accrue interest. The State allows for the rollover of unexpended funds, including interest, to the
next year's grant for County expenditure. Interest in CCPL Grant Funds 709 and 129 has accrued to a
balance of $105,519.28 through March 31, 2014. Unused grant revenue from State Aid amounts to $2.12.
Staff is seeking Board approval to recognize and appropriate this accrued interest and grant revenue in
order to expend the funds.
FISCAL IMPACT: Budget amendments are required to recognize a total of $2,333.57 for accrued
interest within Public Services Grant Fund 709, Projects 33152, 33201 and 33254; and a total of
$103,185.71 for accrued interest within Public Library Grant Fund 129, Projects 33030 including all
closed State Aid Grants; and a total of $2.12 for unused revenue from the 2006 State Aid for Libraries
will be appropriated within Public Services Grant Fund 709, Project 33324.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, does not raise a
legal issue, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the necessary budget
amendments to appropriate carry forward from accrued interest through March 31, 2014 in the amount of
$105,519.28 and unused revenue in the amount of $2.12.
