EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize an additional vehicle purchase in the Growth Management Division,
Road and Bridge Maintenance Department as part of the County's asset management efforts and
approve necessary Budget Amendment (Estimated fiscal impact $30,000).
OBJECTIVE: To purchase a vehicle for the purpose of asset data collection and data
maintenance to support the ongoing asset management project efforts.
CONSIDERATION: The Board has approved an asset management program that is currently
being resourced by job bankers for the collection and integration of assets and associated data.
These job bankers have gone through extensive training and have begun to collect the data
associated to county maintained assets. This effort is currently being conducted as a two person
team. After some experience in the field, the individuals will be able to work independently,
covering twice as much ground. This will only be possible if an additional vehicle is purchased.
GMD has exhausted available loaner resources for an additional vehicle. Due to the long tern
ongoing needs of the data collection efforts, there are no spare vehicles available for that time
commitment.
Road and Bridge Maintenance has operating budget savings and therefore has sufficient funding
to purchase the additional vehicle.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds in the amount of $30,000 are available in Transportation Services
Fund 101- 163620. A budget amendment will be necessary to reallocate funds from operating
expense into capital outlay.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATION: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires
majority vote for Board approval. —SRT
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners authorize the purchase of an
additional vehicle in the Growth Management Division, Road and Bridge Maintenance
Department and authorize any necessary budget amendments.
