PROCLAMATION
/HEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009 -56, established the Waste Reduction
Awards Program (the WRAP award),- and
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and mu /ti- fami ly residences for enhanced
and innovative recycling programs; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Collier Mosquito Control District for
contributing to the greater good of Collier County by advocating the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"
message to their staff and thereby helping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County
Landfill; and
WHEREAS, the Collier Mosquito Control Districts recycling, reuse and source reduction program includes
• Recycling a// cardboard, office paper, plastic, aluminum, g /ass, pallets, fight bulbs and
rechargeable batteries. Placement of recycling collection containers for all recyclable items in
conveniently located areas
• Conserving energy by having timers on light switches, self - regulating air conditioning thermostats,
and rep /acing ballasts on fluorescent bulbs
• Reducing paper waste by keeping documents in electronic format versus printing them.
Implementing an employee awareness class on recycling, • and
W14EREAS, the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a plaque and space on the county's
website showcasing eco- friendly business practices and recycling programs, and
WHEREAS, the Sol /d and Hazardous Waste Management Department congratulates Mr. Tim Stark, Executive
Director, Stacy Welch, Director Administration, and all the staff of Collier Mosquito Control
District for their outstanding efforts to promote waste reduction, reuse and recycling, and
setting a positive example for other state and federal agencies. Their initiatives will have a
significant effect on sustaining the usable life of the Collier County Landfill and protecting the
environment.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we
congratulate
COLLIER MOSQUITO CONTROL DISTRICT
for its contributions and efforts in recycling and waste reduction
