EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a budget amendment in the amount of 523,490.94 to recognize
revenues received from traffic accident reimbursements from Insurance Companies in
Landscape Project Fund 112, Project #60076, Traffic Accidents and Turnianes, and
Landscape Project Fund 112, Project #60075, Landscape Asset Management.
OBJECTIVE: Approve a budget amendment in the amount of $23,490.94 to recognize
revenues for future repairs from traffic accident reimbursements in Landscape Project Fund
(112), project 960076 (Traffic Accidents and Turnlanes) and Landscape Project Fund (112),
project 460075 (Landscape Asset Management).
CONSIDERATIONS: The Road Maintenance Department Landscape staff coordinates with the
Risk Management Department to collect reimbursements for damages due to traffic accidents on
our landscaped medians. By recognizing revenues from traffic accidents and other similar events,
repairs can be made to replace damaged plant material, broken irrigation components, and to
replace any other incidental landscape work within the county rights of way. The accident repairs
and other incidental repairs are made during the summer months so as not to impede the traffic
flow.
FISCAL IMPACT: Damages due to traffic accidents were repaired through Fund (111)
Landscape Maintenance. The balance of the revenues will be budgeted and utilized for
replacements in FY 14. A budget amendment in the amount of $23,490.94 is needed to recognize
revenues of $13,518.65 in Fund 112, project #60076 (Traffic Accidents and Turnlanes) and
revenues of $9,972.29 in Fund 112, project 460075 (Landscape Asset Management) for use in
landscape related repairs caused by traffic accidents.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated
with this Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved as to form and legality, and it
requires a majority vote for Board approval - SAS
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approve a budget
amendment in the amount of $23,490.94 to recognize revenues for future repairs from traffic
accident reimbursements in Landscape Project Fund 112, project #60076 (Traffic Accidents and
Turnlanes) and Landscape Project Fund 112, project #60075 (Landscape Asset Management).
