EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint one member to the Housing Finance Authority
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint one member to the Housing Finance Authority to a term expiring
on June 25,2018.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Housing Finance Authority is a five member authority created by
County Ordinance No. 80-66 on July 29, 1980, pursuant to Chapter 159, Part IV, of the Florida
Statutes as a governmental body authorized to issue tax exempt bonds. Members shall be
knowledgeable in one of the following fields: labor, finance or commerce. Terms are four years.
A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
The term of Michael Carr expires on June 25, 2014. The expiring term was advertised and
applications were received from the following interested citizens:

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: To reappoint Mr. Carr to a term expiring on June 25,

FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the
reappointment.

The Housing Finance Authority will soon have a vacancy as a result of the expiration of
the term of Michael Carr. Mr. Carr as conveyed his desire to be re-appointed and the Authority
recommends his re-appointment.
Michael Can has been a member of the Authority for several years, and is our vice
chairman. He is a Commercial Broker by profession and brings to the Authority substantial
experience in analyzing the financial aspects, creditworthiness, and feasibility of proposed
housing transactions. He has an almost perfect attendance record at meetings, having missed
only one meeting in the past four years.
Accordingly,the Authority has requested me to convey to you its recommendation for the
re-appointment of Michael Can for a four year term beginning the date of the expiration of his
current term.
