Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens Major Capital Improvements Planned and Proposed - $25,000+ (Contingent on Funding and All Required Permits) Historic: Restoration of Original Caribbean Gardens Entrance Structures ($350,000 - $500,000) Renovate and restore the entrance structures for conversion into a museum of photos, historic papers and documents capturing the Nehrling, Fleischmann and Tetzlaff contributions to the property. Fully landscape the area around the structures to create a welcoming area for guests and to serve as the starting point for botanical tours of the property. Renovations to Signature Property Features: Renovate and Upgrade Safari Canyon Theatre ($100,000- $150,000) Full upgrade of all video monitors, sound and computer systems. Replace existing canopy over educational show area. Minor rockwork in educational show area to improve animal and staff access and interaction. (Note: $100,000 secured to date.) Expand and Improve "Snakes Alive" Education Show Area (Less Than $100,000) Renovate show area to accommodate greater guest numbers and to improve viewing for young children and guest in wheelchairs. Increase shade areas for guests and educational show animals and staff. Improve Giraffe Exhibit and Surrounding Guest Service Areas: ($100,000- $250,000) Re-grade sections of the exhibit to improve drainage and increase the shade structure area for the giraffes. Improve plant and aesthetic qualities of the exhibit and giraffe feeding area. increase seating and gathering areas for guests. Renovate restrooms. (Note: Approximately$100,000 secured to date.) Bank Restoration —Alligator Bay ($200,000 - $250,000) Erosion of Alligator Bay banks has begun to compromise fencing to improve animal, staff and guest safety. Fully restore banks in areas of the exhibit where fencing has been or will be compromised.
