EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize the necessary Budget Amendment for limited security improvements
in the Main Collier County Jail.
OBJECTIVE: To make limited security improvements in the Main Collier County Jail at the Sheriff's
request.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Sheriff's Office has requested assistance in making a limited number of
immediate security improvements in the Main Collier County Jail. The proposed security improvements
will provide correctional staff with more flexibility as it relates to jail inmate movement, especially with
high-risk prisoners.
Due to the nature of this request, specific details are being intentionally omitted*. The Sheriff's staff has
worked with the County's Facilities Management staff on this issue and have consensus that this is the
most reasonable option.
* The details of this project are exempt from Florida's Public Records law as provided for in Section
119.071(3)(a)and Section 281.301,Florida Statutes.
FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of this project is $39,500. Funds would be transferred from Countywide
Capital Improvement Fund 301 Reserves to Jail Repair(Project 53172).
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: Section 119.071(3)(a) and 281.301,Fla. Stat., provides an exemption to
Florida's Public Records law for "security system plans." This item has been approved as to form and
legality and requires majority vote for approval.—CMG
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION; That the Board of County Commissioners authorizes the necessary budget
amendment for the Main Collier County Jail as provided for within this summary.
