EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint three members to the Animal Services Advisory Board.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint three members to the Animal Services Advisory Board.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Animal Services Advisory Board is a seven member board that was
created on January 27, 2004 by Ordinance No. 2004-06 to make recommendations to the Board
of County Commissioners on programs, services, classes and special events that will further
assist Collier County Domestic Animal Services in providing the best possible service to the
community. They will also analyze and review construction and improvements to Domestic
Animal Services facilities and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners
regarding such facilities. Terms are four years, in the following categories:
1 - Humane Society Naples
1 - Law Enforcement
l -Veterinarian or Vet Tech
1 - Animal Activist Group
1 —Citizen in the Pet Retail, Boarding or Grooming Industry
2 -At Large
A list of the current membership is included in the backup. There are currently three vacancies
on this board: in the category of veterinarian/vet tech, for a term expiring on April 13, 2016; and
in the pet retail and at large categories, for terms expiring on April 13, 2018.. The vacancies were

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: To appoint Aimee Leteux in the veterinarian/vet tech

category for a term expiring on April 13, 2018. The Committee elected not to make a
recommendation for the At Large category. A more detailed recommendation memo is included
in the backup.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners considers the
recommendations for appointment, appoints three members, and directs the County Attorney to
prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.

worked with the local humane society in Tallahassee, I volunteered for spay and neuters clinics
at the local animal shelter and was active in the Foster Cat Program. I have owned many pets
from Great Danes, mutts, numerous cats and 2 horses. I currently own one amazing mutt dog. I
am interested in assisting the communtiy and using my education and experience to improve the
lives of animals and the people they love.

Mary Baker for the position. Mary is an active member in the community and owns Lucky Dog
Company which is a training, agility, and retail facility for dogs.

Citizen at Large- The members of the DASAB who were present at the meeting would like the
assistance from our Board of County Commissioners by making the final selection for the open
citizen at large position. There were two applicants present at the meeting which would both be
an asset to the DASAB. The DASAB members would welcome either member and felt that both
of their experience and expertise would be a positive addition.

James Seabasty was a Supervisor with Collier County Zoning and Land Development
Department who recently retired. Prior to this he was also a Collier County Code Enforcement
Investigator and a former Police Officer in New Jersey. Mr. Seabasty has his B.S. in Criminal
Justice and minor in Psychology bringing a wealth of knowledge and an enforcement
background to the Advisory Board.
Dan Rheaume is a practicing attorney with a law practice in Hollywood, FL. His wife is a
dedicated volunteer with Collier County Domestic Animal Services. Mr. Rheaume would like to
volunteer his time by serving the community by providing his knowledge, education, and love
for animals to the Advisory Board. Mr. Rheaume is also a pilot and owns several animals that he
adopted from DAS.

This 7-member board was created on January 27, 2004 by Ordinance No. 2004-06 to make
recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on programs, services, classes and
special events that will further assist Collier County Domestic Animal Services in providing the
best possible service to the community. They will also analyze and review construction and
improvements to Domestic animal Services facilities and make recommendations to the Board of
