EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
COMMISSIONER REQUEST FOR BOARD APPROVAL FOR PAYMENT TO
ATTEND FUNCTION SERVING A VALID PUBLIC PURPOSE
OBJECTIVE: For the Board of County Commissioners to declare a valid public
purpose for a Commissioner to attend a function/event and approve payment by the
Clerk.
CONSIDERATIONS: Pursuant to Resolution No. 99-410, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined that attendance at the functions of fraternal, business,
environmental, educational, charitable, social,professional, trade, homeowners, ethnic,
and civic association/organizations serves a valid public purpose,provided that said
functions reasonably relate to Collier County matters.
COMMISSIONER: Donna Fiala
FUNCTION/EVENT: Annual Honor the Free Press Luncheon
PUBLIC PURPOSE: Meet and interact with business and community leaders.
DATE OF FUNCTION/EVENT: April 9, 2014
FISCAL IMPACT: $30.00 - Funds to be paid from Commissioner's travel budget.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with
Resolution No. 99-410, approve payment by the Clerk for Commissioner Donna Fiala to
attend a function serving a valid public purpose.

Once again, Naples Press Club will co-host with the E.T. Brisson
detachment of the Marine Corps League of Naples, Florida, an event to SUPPORTED
pay tribute to American journalists. At 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, BY
2014,the tenth annual "Honor the Free Press" luncheon will take place at
the Hilton-Naples.
Cost of the buffet meal is $30 per person, and reservations are
required. Mail checks for $30, payable to Marine Corps League, to
PO Box 8982, Naples, 34104, to arrive no later than March 28,
2014. Be sure to attach a note with your name, address, phone and
e-mail address for return of your check if the event is
oversubscribed.
