EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a budget amendment recognizing $220,627 in State Aid to Libraries
grant revenue and appropriating expenditures on library materials,services,and equipment.
OBJECTIVE: To fund the purchase of needed goods and services through State Aid to Libraries.
CONSIDERATIONS: On December 10, 2013, the Board approved the application for State Aid to
Libraries (Agenda item 16D16). On February 7, 2014, the Library received notice from the State that the
Collier County Public Library was awarded the total amount of$220,627.
These grant funds can be used for any public library need except for building construction. Funds will be
used to purchase library materials, services, equipment, and other library needs, such as the hiring of
temporary personnel to provide direct services to our Library customers.
FISCAL IMPACT: Staff has prepared a budget amendment to recognize $220,627 in State Aid to
Libraries grant funds and allocate expenditures to supplement the Library's budget in the same amount in
the Library Grant Fund(709), Project 33324.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT:None.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved as to form and legality and requires
majority vote for approval.—CMG
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board approves a budget amendment recognizing $220,627 in State
Aid to Libraries grant revenue.

The Division of Library and Information Services staff has reviewed the Fiscal Year(FY)2013-14 State
Aid to Libraries grant application submitted by your library.I am pleased to inform you that your library
has met all of the requirements of Chapter 1B-2.011,Florida Administrative Code.
Grant funds will be paid in two payments.The first payment,requested upon execution of the grant
agreement,will be for three-fourths of the grant amount.The second payment will be for one-fourth of
the grant amount.The first grant payment has already been requested.
A copy of the executed grant agreement,and a Notification of Grant Award form,are enclosed.Also
enclosed is a list of the grants that libraries will receive during FY 2013-14.
