Agenda 03/25/2014 Item #16A18 3/25/2014 16.A.18. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to authorize the necessary budget amendment to purchase an International, 20 cubic yard Model 7500, dump truck with funding from fuel cost savings in fiscal year 2014. OBJECTIVE: To approve a budget amendment for the purchase an International, 20 cubic yard, Model 7500 dump truck. CONSIDERATIONS: The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) on December 10, 2013, Item 16E11, approved the use of the Federal GSA schedules, the State of Florida Contracts, Agreements and Price Alliance, National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance (NIPA), National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) public purchasing consortiums; and competitive solicitations from State of Florida Cities, Counties and other public municipalities (i.e. Sheriffs Association) for the efficient purchase of goods and services and for which funds were approved in operating budgets. Due to budget allowances not all of the vehicles recommended to be replaced could be funded in the FY14 budget. The Road Maintenance Department has a cost savings in fuel and is asking for approval to purchase an International, 20 cubic yard Model 7500 dump truck, replacing a 2003 International Model 7400 dump truck, asset number 030740, with funding from fuel cost savings in FY14. The 2003 International Model 7400 dump truck that is being replaced is a 16 cubic yard capacity dump truck, the new Model 7500 dump truck is currently the standard size dump truck and will allow for more efficiency at the larger capacity of 20 cubic yards. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds in the amount of$128,657 are available in the Road Maintenance Department operating budget 101-163620. A budget amendment will be required to move the funding to 101-163620 capital for the purchase. Replacing this dump truck is expected to reduce future repair costs, as the truck being replaced had over 600 hours of down time and repair costs in excess of$90,000 over the past two fiscal years. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated with this Executive Summary. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote for Board approval.—SRT RECOMMENDATION: That the BCC authorize the necessary budget amendment to purchase an International, 20 cubic yard Model 7500, dump truck.
