WHEREAS, Baby Basics was founded in 1994 in Ridgewood, New Jersey by Jean Ann Lynch to
n pndvide low- income families with an adequate supply of diapers for their babies;
and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Lynch wanted all babies to have the chance to grow and thrive and expanded
her ayanization to 13 pwngmms across the country, including one in Collier
County, and,
WHEREAS, the oManization currently serves 345 babies at nine distribution sites in Collier
County and has pwoWrded almost three milliau diapers since 2004, and,
WHEREAS, volunteers meet with qualified families twice a month to help diem select Me
proper sized diapers, provide information about the next distribution and other
opportunities for supportive services; and,
WHEREAS, parents enjoy the open and caring environment where they concoct with volunteers
and talk about their daily struggles and successes; and,
WHEREAS, a two -weeks supply of free diapers allows families to spend their limited
resources on medicine or other necessities; babies thrive because they are dry
n and comfortable; and,
WHEREAS, Baby Basics is celebrating the distribution of three million diapers in Collier
County on March 13, 2014 at the Waterside Shops in Naples.
NOW THEREFORE, be it pwnclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that March 13, 2014 be designated as
BABY BASICS' THREE MILLIONTH DIAPER CELEBRATION
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 11* Day of March, 2014.
