WHEREAS, Bui /ding Homes for Hems, a notional nonprofit or-wnization founded in 2006, is
ly committed to skmorting the brave men and women who have returned home
from I the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan with severe wounds and disabilities; and,
WHEREAS, Building Homes for Heroes has been at the forefront of making a significant
d/fferirence in the lives of these wounded men and women by building or modifying
existing homes to meet the needs of these brave individuals who se/f/ess/y served our
coun�-y; and,
WHEREAS, these mortgage -free homes help remove the financial burden on the families, restore
the rndiwd wAr freedom and enable the veteran to lead a more productive and
independent civi lian life, and,
WHEREAS, in 2013, Building Homes for Heroes celebrated the donation of 25 new homes in ten
statas, one of the recipients being Sergeant Brent Hernandez of Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, Sgt. Hernandez was severely wounded in Afghanistan 13 days into his deployment
when his aircraft crashed, leaving him with critical internal in, juries, a traumatic brain
in ju y and post - traumatic stress disorder; and,
�,4HEREAS, during his service, he received
(twice), National Defense Service
Service Ribbon, Army Ranger Tab
Badge; and,
WHEREAS, Sgt, f emandez, his wife
presented with the keys
support of Building Homo
Manhattan Consirtiction.

Ribbon, 6/oba/ War on Terrorism Ribbon, Army
Combat Infantry Badge and Army Parachutist
Katy and their daughters, Makennah and Annastyn, were
to their new home on December 14, 2013 thanks to the
rs for Heroes and its local partners, Chase Bank and
NOW THEREFORE, be it pnvlaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florio, that Building Homes for Heroes, Chase Bonk and Manhattan Construction be
vie ized for their generous donation and Sgt. Herr►ondez be honored for his service
to ou r nation.
