EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to designate Commissioner Tom Henning to serve as BCC Liaison to the
Independent Fire Districts.
OBJECTIVE: To improve communication and to insure the timely and appropriate engagement
of the Board of County Commissioners with the Independent Fire Districts on responsibilities of
mutual interest and concern including, but not limited to, the delivery of emergency medical
response,permitting and inspection, consolidation, or other as the Board deems appropriate.
CONSIDERATIONS: Commissioner Henning is the sole Commissioner with experience as an
elected Collier County Fire Commissioner. He has been engaged in numerous BCC / Fire
District related issues over many years, and provided leadership resulting in positive working
relationships. He has good working knowledge of the Independent Districts, and workable inter-
personal relationships with many Fire Professionals, staff, and elected Fire Commissioners.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: none
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners designate Commissioner
Tom Henning as BCC Liaison to the Independent Fire Districts.
