EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint a member to the Immokalee Beautification MSTU Advisory
Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint a member to the Immokalee Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee to fill
the remainder of a vacant term expiring on September 23, 2020.
CONSIDERATIONS: This five member committee was created by Ord. No. 85-65, amended by Ord.
Nos. 90-8 and 92-40, to assist the Board of County Commissioners in the business affairs of the
Immokalee Beautification Taxing District, and prepare and recommend an itemized budget to carry out
the business of the district for each fiscal year. Membership represents the population of the area within
the Immokalee Beautification District. Ord. No. 2002-52 was adopted on 10/22/02 changing membership
as follows: 4 members shall be permanent residents within the MSTU and 1 member may be an owner of
residential or commercial property within the MSTU or may be an appointed representative of a business
located within the MSTU and an elector of Collier County. Terms are 4 years. A list of the current
membership is included in the backup.
There is one vacant seat on this advisory committee. The vacancy was advertised and applications were
received from the following:

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting on January 17, 2018, the committee voted
unanimously to recommend that Mr. Barnhart be appointed to fill the currently vacant seat, which shall
expire on September 23, 2020. A recommendation memo is included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointment.
