EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize carryforward accrued interest from the period July through
September, 2017 earned by EMS County Grant revenue and appropriate funds in the amount of
$253.63.
OBJECTIVE: To appropriate past accrued interest earned from July 1, 2017 - September 30, 2017 for
EMS County Grants awarded by the Florida Department of Health under the Emergency Medical
Services County Grant Programs.
CONSIDERATIONS: Each year EMS is awarded a grant through the Florida Department of Health,
Bureau of EMS. The most recent grant was approved by the Board on October 10, 2017. This grant is
non-competitive and requires only the completion of the application and a resolution stating that the grant
funds will be used only to expand or improve EMS services and will not supplant budgeted funds. The
State allows for the rollover of any unexpended funds, including interest, to the next year’s grant for
County expenditure. Interest in EMS Grant Fund 493 has accrued to a balance of $253.63 t hrough
September 30, 2017. Staff is seeking Board approval to recognize and appropriate this accrued interest in
order to expend the funds.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is required to recognize a total of $253.63 within EMS Grant
Fund 493, Project 33531 for accrued interest.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issue, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners authorizes the necessary Budget
Amendment in the amount of $253.63 to appropriate carry-forward from accrued interest through
September 30, 2017.
