EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint one member to the Code Enforcement Board.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint one member to the Code Enforcement Board to a three year term
expiring on February 14, 2019.
CONSIDERATIONS: This 7 member board, plus two alternates, was created pursuant to
Chapter 162 of the Florida Statutes by Ordinance No. 88-89, as amended, and is composed of
individuals representing the occupations of architect, business owner, engineer, general
contractor, subcontractor and Realtor, and are considered, in part, on the basis of experience or
interest in the areas of the codes and ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a
Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3
years. This is a quasi-judicial board. A current membership list is included in the backup.
One seat on this board expired on February 14, 2016. The expiring seat was advertised, and an
application was received from the following:

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: As a quasi-judicial board no committee recommendation is
required. Staff recommends that Ms. Elrod be appointed to a three-year term expiring on

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Staff
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the
appointment.
