PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Library of Collier County, Inc., having contributed
more than $1 mil /ion in the last 10 Years, to fund the expansion and
enhancement of educational, recreational and technological needs at a//
Collier County Public Library branches, and,
WHEREAS, the Friends pay every year for several hundred adult and children's
educational programs every year, ,genealogy rreferrence books and data
bases, iPads for library program users, and the Library Electronic
Assistance Progrom (LEAP) which employs teen students to provide tech
and computer support for library patrons - - a// of which enable the
Collier County l/ comes to better serve county residents; and,
WHEREAS, the Friends sponsor and contribute toward annual luncheon lectures of
nationally known authors, breakfast lectures of nationally known non-
fiction authors, Book Club breakfasts, adult literacy program needs and
various other library related needs - - all of which broaden the
horizons of Collier County's citizens, their chi ldren and families, and,
n WHEREAS, the Friends gift of their time and commitment to the Collier County
libraries provides an example of how volunteerism leads to positive civic
engagement and the betterment of our community.

NOW TH- EREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that October 18 -24, 2015 be designated as
Friends of the Library Week
in Co// %r County, Florida, and urges everyone to join the Friends of
the Library and thank them for a// they do to make our libraries and
communities so much better.
