EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve an after-the-fact time extension amendment to the Florida
Department of Transportation (FDOT) Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) AQQ85 for the State
Transit Service Development Program Grant for necessary Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
bus stop improvements.
OBJECTIVE: To extend State Transit Service Development JPA to complete necessary ADA bus stop
improvements along the state highway system.
CONSIDERATIONS: On December 11, 2012, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approved a
JPA with FDOT to improve ADA accessibility to bus stops along the state highway system in the amount
of $237,919. On December 27, 2017, Public Transit & Neighborhood Enhancement staff submitted a
request to FDOT to extend the current agreement set to expire December 31, 2017 to March 18, 2018, to
complete minor punch list items to eight (8) of the thirty-five (35) sites. Due to the short turnaround of the
notice to complete these items and the expiration date of the agreemen t, the extension was signed by the
Deputy County Manager on December 28, 2017.
A summary of the reason for the time extension was included in the letter to FDOT. The time extension
amendment was approved by FDOT on December 28, 2017, and the agreement is now extended until
March 18, 2018.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no Fiscal Impact associated with this item. Funding was previously
appropriated within CAT Grants Fund 424, Project 33244.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item was reviewed by the County Attorney, was approved as to
form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK

Service Development Program Grant to complete ADA bus stop improvements along the state highway
system.
