EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to consider setting a time certain in Board of County Commissioner
meetings of 1:00 pm for public comment for items not on the agenda and, in addition, when
a Board of County Commission meeting ends before 1:00 pm, it will reconvene at 1:00 pm
for the purpose of hearing public comments.
OBJECTIVE: To ensure that there is a time certain for the public to speak at Board of County
Commissioner meetings for items not on the agenda.
CONSIDERATIONS: The public may have to wait many hours before the opportunity to
address the Board of County Commissioners presents itself. Establishing a time certain assures
that the public has a reliable and consistent time frame in every Board of Commissioners
meeting to express their concerns.
FISCAL IMPACT: To be provided by staff as part of their report to the Board.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item was reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no
legal issue, and requires majority vote for Board approval. –JAK
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners sets a time certain in Board
of County Commissioner meetings of 1:00 pm for public comment for items not on the agenda
and, in addition, when a Board of County Commission meeting ends before 1:00 pm, it will
reconvene at 1:00 pm for the purpose of hearing public comments.
