PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, on Friday March 6, 2015 the Lely High School Symphonic Band took
part in the District 18 Music Performance Assessment at South Fort
Myers High School and were judged by three state-certified panelists
who listened to over 30 bands from this area; and
WHEREAS, the Symphonic Band received the highest rating possible of SUPERIOR
onstage, which is the highest rating any Lely band has received since
2004 and a/so the last year the Lely Band-Was assessed at the state
level; and
WHEREAS, this SUPERIOR rating earned at the district level automatically qualifies
the band to perform for a rating at the State Musical Performance
Assessment at Broward College on Thursday April 30, 2015 in front of
a panel of top-notch national college band directors; and,
WHEREAS, Lely Band Director Mr. Lederian 7. Townsend, is a product of Collier
County Public Schools, graduating from Immokalee High School in 2007.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Florida State
University in 2011 and is only in his 2°year as the Director of Bands
at Lely High School; and
WHEREAS, Band Director Mr. Lederian 7. Townsend, Lely student supporters,
parents, sponsors and the Lely Trojans Symphonic Band are honored and
ready to accept the challenge to achieve GREATNESS at the state
assessment
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida that Thursday April 3091', 2015 be designated
THE LELY HIGH SCHOOL TROJANS SYMPHONIC BAND DAY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 14t DAY of APRIL, 2015.
