PROMA&ATION
WHEREAS, the people of Collier County recognize the vita/ importance —to our county,
our state and our nation —of promoting children's literacy and of building o
community of enthusiastic and lifelong readers; and,
WHEREAS, the K is for Kids* Fowrdation and its student leaders have an successfully
fostered o love of reading amongst children of o// ages, particularly through
its Friends of the School Library and Rising Readers programs, and Bring o
Book, Bring o AmendO Fan misers, and,
WHEREAS, the K is for kids* Foundation has brought hundreds of children, teens, and
adults together to create a culture that treasw m shored reading
opportunities and school libraries; and,
WHEREAS, the K is for Kids® Foundation has placed thousands of books on the shelves
of chi /dren'r libraries and in the hands of eager yowng readers, and,
WHEREAS, the organization promotes youth leadership through its mission of building
readers and leaders by providing high school shdents a Ladder for Leaders
n pmgmm with the motto "Climb Higher. Help Others" offering students
nearing gmduahon opportunities to develop their skills outside of the
classroom in a real world setting, while earning important community service
hours, boosting their resumes, and giving a helping hand to students who
want to take the lead the next year
NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Cmmissimmrs of Collier
Co aty, Florida, that February, 2015 be designated as
K I5 FOR KIDS® FOUNDATION'S BRZiV6 A BOOK,
SM19 A MENDO MONTH FOR CHILDREN'S LITERACY
in the hope that a// of us will show renewed support for our school /ibmries
and the young readers who find know /edge, solace and inspiration within
them.
