EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint four members to the Code Enforcement Board.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint three members and appoint one new member to the Code Enforcement
Board to three year terms expiring on February 14, 2018.
CONSIDERATIONS: This 7 member board, plus two alternates, was created pursuant to Chapter 162
of the FL Stat. by Ordinance No. 88-89 and is composed of, but not limited to, individuals representing
the occupations of architect, business owner, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and Realtor and
are considered, in part, on the basis of experience or interest in the areas of the codes and ordinances to be
enforced. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each year with the
Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3 years. This is a Quasi Judicial Board. A current membership list is
included in the backup.
Four seats on this board expire on February 14, 2015. For various reasons, neither of the two alternates
wished to be considered for the open regular seat. The expiring seats were advertised and applications
were received from the following interested citizens:

ATTENDANCE: In the past two years, Mr. Lefebvre and Mr. Lavinski have had no absences, and Mr.
Kaufman has had two excused absences.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: As a quasi judicial board no committee recommendation is required.
Staff recommends that Mr. Kaufman, Mr. Lefebvre, and Mr. Lavinski each be reappointed to their
respective seats to new three year terms expiring on February 14, 2018. Staff also recommends that Mr.
Kezeske be appointed to fill the expiring seat of Mr. Larry Mieszcak, who after ten years of service on
this board has chosen to step down at the end of his term. Mr. Kezeske's term shall also expire on
February 14, 2018. Recommendation memos are included in the backup to this item.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Staff Recommendation,
and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.
