EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to approve the submittal of a Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Application in the amount of $2,100 to purchase Class A Foam for the Ochopee Fire Control District(County Match $1,050). OBJECTIVE: Obtain approval to submit the Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Application to purchase Class A Foam for the Ochopee fire Control District. CONSIDERATIONS: Ochopee Fire Control District has submitted and received this type of grant from the Florida Division of Forestry for the past 37 years. The grant has been used to purchase equipment for the purpose of improving firefighter safety and firefighting capabilities. This 50/50 grant will allow an increase in suppression power by potentially boosting the resources of Ochopee Fire Control District while enhancing fire protection of life and property making this grant extremely beneficial during this period of budget constraints. FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost of the Class A Foam is $2,100. As this is a 50/50 matching grant split between the Division of Forestry and Ochopee Fire Control district with Forestry providing 50% of the costs at $1,050. If awarded, the District's cost share of 50% in the amount of$1,050 will be provided from Ochopee Fire Control District Fund 146. Following the award budget amendments will be needed to recognize grant funds in Fund 713, County Manager Grants and to transfer matching funds from Fund 146 to Fund 714, County Manager Match in Project. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact associated with this Executive Summary.
