EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Louise Pelletier, Manager-Senior Programs and Social Service,
Public Services Division as the Supervisor of the Year 2014.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of a supervisor who has made
significant contributions to the organization or to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Louise Pelletier has been selected as the "Supervisor of the Year" for
2014. Louise was selected by committee from a pool of 9 very qualified nominees. All
employees who supervise two or more employees and receive an overall annual performance
evaluation rating of exceed expectations or higher are eligible to be nominated for this annual
award.
Louise has been an employee of the County since November 2009. As the Manager of Senior
Programs and Social Services her responsibilities include managing, coordinating, planning and
developing programs for the senior community. She is additionally responsible for the oversight of
the Senior Nutrition Program which provides home delivered meals to homebound seniors and
daily hot meals to 4 congregate meal sites located across the county. Louise is a staunch
supporter and advisor to the establishment of the Golden Gate Senior Center which opened this
past November. She also co-sponsored the first annual Collier County Leadership Coalition on
Aging conference this year.
As a supervisor Louise builds relationships with all staff based on mutual respect. She is
enthusiastic, positive and energetic. Her coaching style has created a team atmosphere where all
members feel they have a stake in the day to day operations of the programs and they become
willing to commit themselves to providing exceptional customer service. She encourages her staff
to be self directed and active participants in the decision making process. The team is first and
foremost her primary focus. She has an infectious upbeat personality which fosters her team's
willingness and commitment for outstanding service. She is first in, last out, and always ready to
lend a hand. Louise is a great listener; she is kind, compassionate and always approachable.
She is passionate about the citizens she serves, the programs she oversees, and the staff she
supports. You may find her wrapping gifts for"her" seniors, cleaning the kitchen, or helping cover
the front desk, but you will always find her with a smile, a kind word, and a caring spirit. These are
just a few reasons she is so deserving of the Supervisor of the Year recognition.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Supervisor of the Year" receives a $250.00 cash award.
Funds for this are available in the Human Resources Budget for this program.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the recognition of
Louise Pelletier as Supervisor of the Year for 2014.
