EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint a member to the Industrial Development Authority.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint Alice J. Carlson to the Industrial Development Authority to a four
year term expiring on January 8, 2019.
CONSIDERATIONS: Established on February 27, 1979, by Resolution No. 79-34 pursuant to
FL STAT 159, Part III, This authority is composed of 5 members who serve staggered, 4-year
terms. This authority has the power to sell industrial revenue bonds. Money generated from the
bonds is to be used to construct industrial plants, equipment and other facilities which would be
leased or sold to private industry. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
There is one vacancy and one additional seat which expired on January 8, 2015. The vacancies
were advertised and applications were received from the following interested citizens:

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: That Ms. Carlson be reappointed to the Industrial
Development Authority to a four year term expiring on January 8, 2019. A recommendation
memo is included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the
reappointment.

The term of Alice J. Carlson, a member and Chair of the Collier County Industrial
Development Authority, has expired, and she has applied for reappointment. Ms. Carlson has
served the IDA for many years, and is currently its chairman. Her background is accounting and
financial analysis,and she has extensive experience in analyzing bond issue feasibility. She
brings many years of experience,knowledge, and conflict-free judgment to the Authority, and
has missed no meetings of the Authority during her term. There were no other applicants for this
vacancy. I highly recommend her reappointment.
