Please be advised that you are scheduled to appear before the Collier County Board of Commissioners at
the meeting of January 27,2015,regarding the above referenced subject.
Your petition to the Board of County Commissioners will be limited to ten minutes. Please be advised
that the Board will take no action on your petition at this meeting. However,your petition may be '1
placed on a future agenda for consideration at the Board's discretion. If the subject matter is currently
under litigation or is an on-going Code Enforcement case,the Board will hear the item but will not
discuss the item after it has been presented.Therefore,your petition to the Board should be to advise
them of your concern and the need for action by the Board at a future meeting. '1

Dog parks
segregate people's recreation & socialization with dogs from other forms of recreation & socialization
in public spaces.
Not that this applies to Naples but bigger cities feel a park filled with people and their pets cuts down
on drug deals, violence, vandalism and loitering.
"P .uple who are out walking their dogs are going to meet everyone using the park. If you want to
know what's going in the neighborhood, it's the dog owners who know everything."
"Certainly one of the most appealing aspects of a dog park" is the anti-crime component. It's going
to help clean up the neighborhood, and you might not have a lot of people loitering or late night
cruising.
People with dogs who are out in the neighborhood - that's more eyes and ears.
It's a great thing for my family when they come down, gives another thing to do for them, plus lets
their dogs stretch their legs from living in an RV Park.
Plus, this would be a progressive move for Naples - I mean, what city doesn't have a dog park?
When I was living in Chicago, a very good move was dog parks. Though the reasons may not apply to
Naples, yet....dogs need to have activity, utilize some of that energy. There is nothing bad about
having a dog park.

A Dog Park in the Golden Gate Community will effect hundreds of families in a positive way. The percentage of
Collier County families who are adopting a pet is growing. What better way to bring neighbors together than through
socializing with their pets.
A recent study has shown that Counties that have dog parks are experiencing less abandon animals.
Another study of one hundred dog parks across America have reported a sharp rise in neutered and spayed dogs.
The social interactions of people with their dogs in dog parks has been reflected in the increase of pet related family
responsibilities.
At our most recent Angel Legacy For Animal Welfare board meeting we discussed the advantages of having a Dog
Park in the Golden Gate Community. Here are some of our reasons for enthusiastically supporting the creation of a
Dog Park in the Golden Gate Community:
-1. . .cross section of people from various communities will be socializing with their pets.
2. The exchange of information concerning pet behavior and pet health.
3. Making friends with people from different ethnic backgrounds, thereby enriching the community.
4. Creating higher standards for pet responsibilities through role models.
5. Decreasing loneliness and depression by interacting with other families with pets.
6. Sharing past and currant events that engender social interaction and neighborliness.

Veterans Park is too far to visit on a frequent basis. I registered my dog for the Park off Central Ave but it too is
not as convenient as one would be off Santa Barbara. I am in Naples Heritage and about to move to a location

County. We have used the park on Goodlette Frank and were very pleased. Although
we were there off-season, it was clean and well constructed, separating the big dogs
from the smaller dogs.

have any such amenities. You should get them to pitch in so the they could list the amenity as
"Nearby". We live in Saba! Key Apts. and have nothing, no benches and bad grass.

Haven't seen anything in NDN recently about Shirley Stewart's efforts to obtain a Dog Park in Golden Gate
area. Really hoping this could be located at the park on Santa Barbara. We live in "Sherwood" (Radio Road),
and have no fenced areas for neighborhood dogs to run free. We have a 7 year-old wheaton-colored Cairn
Terrier, "Champion Loma Doone". She loves every dog she meets when we are out walking (big or small),
and she loves to run. For sure she doesn't get as much exercise as she needs and would like because we can't
run with her. We have friends in Bucks Co, PA who regularly use a dog park and love it. We'd appreciate
knowing if there has been any further movement toward establishing a park in our area. Dog-walkers here
all wish we had a fenced play-area, but that isn't doable for just our little community, so our best hope is for

communities with loads of dogs along Radio Road toward Davis Blvd and Collier Blvd. that would

We would be in favor of a dog park at the Golden Gate Community Park.
Within our community there isn't a space available for pet owners to allow their dogs to run around without being
on a leash.
Our declaration also prohibit dogs from not being on a leash.
We feel it is important to the dogs and their owners to be able to socialize with other dogs. To be able to run freely
the way nature intended.

Mr. Barry Williams:
I would like to first of all thank you for all of your work within Collier County Parks and Recreation. Furthermore,I
would like to express my support of an off-leash dog run space in Golden Gate Community Park, provided there are
appropriate resources available to make this a reality. Within the gated master planned community of Countryside,
we have over 1,100 units; however,we do not have the available space within our community to provide an open
leash park amenity. Many owners within our community would benefit from an open leash park within close
proximity. I thank you for the continued thoughtful consideration of this proposal.

play/exercise area in the Golden Gate Community Park. Offering this dog friendly
area will allow for community gatherings of the many dog lovers we have. This in
return would draw more people to the park to enjoy the outdoors and to see what
