PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Lions Clubs International, with more than one million members worldwide,
was founded in 1916 as an organization of men and women who strive to
make a difference in their local community and communities across the
world; and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Lions Club, a member of the Lions Clubs International,
received its charter in 1938; and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Lions Club offers free vision and hearing screenings at 50
locations throughout Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Lions Club collects donated glasses and hearing aids at
numerous sites around Collier County that are sent to needy adults and
children around the world, including more than 1,000 in Collier County;
and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Lions Club generously provides tuition assistance to students
attending Lorenzo Walker Technical High School, and to schools in the
nursing and medical fields; and,
WHEREAS, the Naples Lions Club is celebrating 80 years of giving back to our
community.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners
of Collier County, Florida that February 3, 2018, be designated as
NAPLES LIONS CLUB DAY IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 23th Day of January 2018.
