EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve and authorize the Collier County EMS Chief and EMS Flight
Program Manager to sign the attached Access and Confidentiality Agreement to obtain access to
patient outcomes from Lee Memorial Hospital utilizing the EPIC Software System.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain patient outcomes from Lee Memorial Health System for purposes of training
and quality assurance.
CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County EMS transports trauma patients to Lee Memorial Hospital. As
part of the Quality Assurance Program, EMS obtains patient outcome information on patients that have
been transported to Lee Memorial to assure patients are being treated properly and efficiently. This data is
useful in providing feedback to EMS and is utilized for training and system improvement. Lee Memorial
requires that Collier County EMS executes its Access and Confidentiality Agreement to obtain this
patient outcome information.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact to the Growth Management Plan from this
action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority
vote for Board approval. -SRT
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize the EMS Chief and the EMS Flight Program Manager to sign an
Access and Confidentiality Agreement to obtain patient information on patients who are transported to
Lee Memorial Hospital by EMS.
