EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize FY2017/2018 Federal Transit Administration Section 5311 revenue
in the amount of $404,525 awarded to Collier Area Transit (CAT) to provide access to
transportation for the rural areas of the County and authorize all necessary Budget Amendments.
OBJECTIVE: To accept $404,525 in Federal Transit Administration funds, which will be used to offset
operational costs for rural routes.
CONSIDERATIONS: On February 11, 2016, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
executed a multi-year Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) with the Board of County Commissioners
(Board) for operating funding identified by contract number G0738 and FDOT project number 41021 -1-
84-35. Collier County receives these funds to offset operations of the fixed route service in the rural areas
of Collier County.
On December 14, 2017, Collier County staff received Notification of Funding from FDOT for contract
number G0738, in the amount of $404,525 for FY2017/2018.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are passed through the FDOT. A Budget Amendment is required in the
amount of $404,525 to recognize grant revenue funds within CAT Grant Fund (424), Project 33456. A
Budget Amendment is also required in the amount of $404,525 within CAT Match Fund (425), Project
33456. Matching funds are available within the Collier Area Transit Enhancement Fund (426) supported
by the annual transfer of General Fund (001) revenue.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority vote
for Board action. - JAB
RECOMMENDATION: To accept the FY2017/2018 Federal Transit Administration Section 5311
additional revenue in the amount of $404,525; authorize the Chairman to sign the Notification of
Funding, and authorize all necessary Budget Amendments.
