EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Edwin Barroso, Maintenance Specialist, Public Services Department
as the October 2017 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization or to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Edwin Barroso has been with the Parks and Recreation Division for 25 years and
works in the aquatic and irrigation branch of the Parks Division.
As an Irrigation Specialist, Edwin works all over the county, and he has demonstrated he can take care of
any task or project that is given to him. In the division, the Immokalee Sports Complex had been
showing some signs of age and need for some tender loving care for the past several months. Edwin was
approached by one of the Field Supervisors for some assistance, and he offered to take on the entire
project. For the past couple of months, he’s been shaping up the aquatic facility at Immokalee Sports
Complex and bringing it up to Parks standards. Edwin had dedicated himself to this project and has
worked diligently to get the park in tip top shape! He has turned the complex around with his
improvements and continues working to make it a showpiece in the Immokalee community, Everyone
knows if you want something done, you ask Edwin! This is why he is so deserving of the Employee of
the Month award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for
this are available in the employee’s budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the recognition of Edwin Barroso as the October 2017 Employee
of the Month.
