EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize accrued interest from the period October 2016 through June 2017
earned by EMS County Grant and appropriate funds for a total amount of $614.72.
OBJECTIVE: To appropriate past accrued interest earned from October 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017 for
EMS County Grants awarded by the Florida Department of Health under the Emergency Medical
Services County Grant Programs.
CONSIDERATIONS: Each year EMS is awarded a grant through the Florida Department of Health,
Bureau of EMS. The most recent grant was approved by the Board on October 10, 2017, Agenda Item
16.E.1. This grant is non-competitive and requires only the completion of the application and a resolution
stating that the grant funds will be used only to expand or improve EMS services and will not supplant
budgeted funds. The State allows for the rollover of any unexpended funds, including interest, to the next
year’s grant for County expenditure. Interest in EMS Grant Fund 493 has accrued to a balance of $614.72
through June 30, 2017. Staff is seeking Board approval to recognize and appropriate this accrued interest
to expend the funds.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is required to recognize a total of $ $614.72 within EMS
Grant Fund 493, Project 33492 for accrued interest.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to
form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with this Executive
Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the necessary budget
amendment in the amount of $614.72 to appropriate carry-forward from accrued interest through June 30,
2017.
